Our terroir, deep in the south of France between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, with its steep slopes, stetches over an area of 900 hectares from deep in the Agly Valley to the foot of the Cathar Castle, Queribus, 30 km from Perpignan.

In Maury the terroir is principally composed of marl schist, under a Mediterranean climate. This is what gives it its originality, character, identity and strength. To this unique landscape can be grafted the work of man. The vine is a perennial plant which demands a year long work programme. It has a long life, with half our vineyards being between 50 and 100 years.

For the wine-grower the year begins with pruning. This winter occupation lasts from mid-november to mid-April.  For us pruning is manual and principally “en gobelet” as its the best method adapted to climatic conditions (dry and very windy weather).

Spring is for ploughing and summer for thinning out the leaves and taking care of the future harvest. Each plot is carefully cared for by the wine-grower and is rigorously checked by the winery technician, who makes sure that the specifications for selected plots are being followed. For the production of our top vintages we have put into place over several years a system of plot selection, according to the age of the vines, their orientation, the type of soil and their capacity of production.

At the end of August, the first grapes harvested are the Muscat. The harvest lasts a month or a month and a half. It is manual. For the top quality plots the harvest is made with 40 kilo plastic boxes with manual selection at the cave.

Thanks to this work our winery can propose  a wide and complete selection of wine, dry and sweet, from Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Muscat and Macabeu grapes, from thoses with the most fruit to the most complex.

To be a wine-grower also means thinking of the future. So each year it is necessary to plant new vines to allow our ancestral vines to be renewed. We do this above all with Grenache noir and Grenache gris, traditional grape varieties of our appellation which allow us to make contemporary wines : gourmet, mineral wines with character and complexity.
